Ecuador is a country that, due to its relief, has different climatic levels, in a matter of minutes or hours, so the tagua is found in all regions that have subtropical forest, such as: the provinces of Manabí, Esmeraldas, Guayas, Cotopaxi , Imbabura and in the Amazon region, at a height of 1,500 meters above sea level, the tagua whose scientific name is Phytelephas Aequatorialis or Phytelephas Macrocarpa, is mostly wild, but must preserve this natural habitat since the tree takes 14 years to give its first fruits
